Tales of Zestiria The X Episode 5

Review:

This is probably the first episode where I actually thought this anime was beautiful. At no point was there one of those jarring moments where suddenly the characters didn’t look like they were actually attached to the setting. I really liked this episode. The new characters were really interesting and while I have no idea how this bit of story connects to the overall narrative at this point, I actually didn’t mind and it kind of gives me something to look forward to learning as the series progresses. I really want to see more of Velvet, though I was a bit disappointed at not seeing any of Sorey this week. This episode felt like it was over too quick and I really want to see next week now.

Tales of Zestiria the X is available on AnimeLab.

  1. Games being adapted into shows usually seem hit or miss and this insertion of a sneak peek of the prequel is an interesting move. But I have to admit, you’re selling me this anime, too. I might have more shows to look forward to each week.

    Thanks for sharing.

    1. Given the the prologue for this anime really didn’t sit right with me, I’m actually really amazed at how much I’ve enjoyed the series so far. Even this big shift in focus didn’t manage to throw me. Admittedly, it is clearly something made for existing fans but it isn’t too confusing for those of us who don’t have a clue. Hoping that continues throughout.

  2. You’re seeing the new lead for the up coming prequal game to zesteria; tales of Berseria. I really like Velvet. I think she is one of those characters that stand out. And it’s a first for the series to have a stand alone lead female character.

  3. well, it sounds like we have two episodes of this before returning to zestiria…it’s a bit of a shame because it’s so random and deserves its own ova, to be honest, but it’s not a bad distraction
