Tales of Zestiria the X Episode 2

Review:

I’m just going to assume I’m going to spell at least half the character and place names wrong in reviews of this anime. I’m done trying to look them up.

I really had a lot of fun with this episode for all that nothing much happened. They explored some ruins, Alicia tried to talk to people she couldn’t see, she left, a ‘Hellion’ showed up and there was a cool fight sequence that didn’t really serve any purpose other than to include a fight sequence, and then Sorey decided to follow Alicia. This anime still feels like it’s going through the motions to set a scene but other than Episode 0, it’s been kind of fun and Sorey is a delightful character (if a little generic at the moment). If I have a complaint (other than wanting things to move along beyond character and plot introductions) it is that Mikleo kind of sounds like an answering machine. “Message from Gramps…”

Anyway, Tales of Zestiria the X is available on AnimeLab and if you like fantasy and manage to make it through the prologue, you’ll probably enjoy it.

  1. “Mikleo kind of sounds like an answering machine. “Message from Gramps…” Haha. The show sure is slow to get moving and it makes me worry about the overarching narrative but I must say I’m enjoying the Ufotable eye-candy.

I'd love to know what you think.
