While Demon-Lord Retry gave us the novelty of a character getting older after being sent to another world, other than some over the top comedy moments that will either work for you or land completely flat it didn't offer all that much during the Summer 2019 season. I did make it to the end of this series, but it felt much longer than it was.

Here we go setting up the business and that's about all for this episode. Yep, we meet the new aide, get the first guest, do some shopping, and watch the bunnies bathing, but realistically this is as slice of life as things get and there's a palpable sense of stagnation in this episode.
Another round of lets talk to people and then go about using admin privileges to make whatever the demon-lord wants. The lack of real tension is palpable as is the lack of narrative direction. This one doesn't even really cut it as a slice of life because the characters just aren't engaging enough.
Truth be told, Demon-Lord, Retry isn't getting any worse. That said, it set its own bar fairly low so even though this was a step backward from the previous episode is seems about average for the season as a whole. There were however a few quite amusing moments early in the episode before it all just kind of went 'meh'.
This week is kind of a step up for Demon-Lord Retry. While it doesn't sort out all the pacing problems and its self-aware and smug humour still grates, as things get rolling this episode there are actually some enjoyable moments and certainly the episode ends on a high note. Saved from getting dropped, here are my thoughts on episode 6 of Maou-Sama Retry.
I'm going to honestly say pretty much nothing happened in this episode. It really just felt like extended filler in an already over-stretched plot. That would be fine if they compensated with great characters or humour but neither is really worth talking about is this largely empty episode.
This week Maou-Sama Retry takes us to the desert where we'll fight some Sand Wolves. It isn't overly compelling but it isn't dreadful either.
