Domestic Girlfriend is melodrama from start to finish yet somehow it is a train wreck of a romance story that managed to keep me watching even while I wanted to bang the heads of all of the main characters together. I know this review is late but here are my whole series thoughts of Domestic Girlfriend.
Now that the Winter season is mostly over, this is where the anime ended up on my list. The Reader's Poll results will be announced later today.
Domestic Girlfriend Episode 12 Review - Bring on the pain as Hina accepts her responsibilities and vanishes from Natsuo's life. However, his friends aren't willing to leave him be and ultimately he is moved to turn his pain into art.
Domestic Girlfriend Episode 11 - Rui is coming to terms with things, Natsuo is taking steps on his goal to becoming a writer and Hina is... well being Hina. The drama continues in episode 11 of Domestic Girlfriend.
Domestic Girlfriend Episode 10 Review - The 'sick' teacher, the secret, the broken leg, and the lie. It all just kind of unravels by the end of this episode.
Domestic Girlfriend Episode 8 and 9 Review - Natsuo continues to try to balance family calm with romantic feelings toward Hina. Meanwhile Rui is getting more possessive and assertive.
Domestic Girlfriend Episode 7 Review - It feels like this anime put the accelerating drama on hold and decided just to let all the characters ruminate on the current status quo. The end result is a far more satisfying mix of interactions between the characters even if this means a deeper dive into the potential of a relationship between the main three.
Domestic Girlfriend Episode 6 Review - Last week we added Momo to the already over-crowded list of potential love interests for Natsuo. This week we add a male teacher (who is probably more teasing than serious) and a member of the school's literature club. Were they actually needed? Not so sure.
Domestic Girlfriend Episode 5 Review - Rui may have made a new friend but it turns out the girl comes with some serious baggage and rumours. Also, shortly after making Rui's acquaintance she asks if it is okay to like Natsuo which puts her motives very much into question. How does this affect the love triangle?
While we aren't quite half-way through the Winter anime season, I'm just taking a moment to take stock, look at my watch list, and I'm trying to predict which of the shows I'm watching will actually hold out until the end of the season to be my favourite. In the meantime, I'd love to know what you are watching, what you've dropped, what you think will be anime of the season, and what you think is going to fall apart.
