Spring Overview

This week’s thoughts on the Spring Season. I must admit, I am more and more going back to anime I had watched before or anime I missed in previous seasons as I let more and more of this season’s offerings slip.

And as a minor side note, I hit 50 followers this week. Wanting to thank everyone for their support and comments. If you have suggestions for things that I should add or cahnge to this blog, please let me know. I started the blog because I wanted to discuss anime and meet others with similar interests.

I Must Keep Watching

Same as last week, I am hooked on:

  1. Sailor Moon Crystal
  2. Bungo Stray Dogs
  3. Shonen Maid

Sailor Moon put in an excellent effort this week and Shonen Maid is kind of my cute and happy for the week. Bungo is interesting. I am really enjoying it, but I know that at the end of the season I’ll probably never come back to it and I can understand why some people are finding it hard to get into.

Still On My Radar

I’m still actively watching the following shows and keen to know where they end but I’m also am aware I’m probably not going to recommend them as a must watch without a rapid improvement soon.

  1. The Asterisk War Season 2
  2. Kiznaiver
  3. Joker Game
  4. Super Lovers

The Asterisk War has actually really improved over the last two episodes. If it continues I may need to move it into the must watch as I am pretty keen on it at the moment. That doesn’t excuse all the flaws in the series but it is definitely one I am waiting for the next episode on. Kiznaiver and Super Lovers continue their downward trend and Joker Game continues to be different and interesting but not a must watch.

Not Dropped But Close

  1. Tanaka-kun is Always Listless
  2. Big Order
  3. Lost Village
  4. Twin Star Exorcists
  5. Rin-ne

This week Twin Star Exorcists and Rin-ne have come to the edge. I am very close to letting both go as neither has been particularly impressive over the last few weeks. The Lost Village seems to be losing some of its comedic edge (which was about all it had left going for it) and Big Order is still a mangled mess. That said, Tanaka-Kun seems to be wanting a revival so we’ll have to se see what next week brings.

  1. Flying Witch
  2. Hundred
  3. Cerberus
  4. Re:Zero
  5. Endride

I had to let Flying Witch go. I found myself actively avoiding watching the last episode of it. Unlike the other dropped shows, there isn’t actually anything wrong with Flying Witch but I am not the right audience for it and I’m finding it really dull. I may come back to it at some point when I’m just in the mood to mellow out, but at the moment I’m not getting anything out of it and so I will let it go.

What are your thoughts on the current season.

  1. I have to catch up with the recent episodes!
Bungou Stray Dogs: Okay but I’m enjoying the manga more (though they are the same!) I’m still keeping my hopes a bit high because it’s getting a second season this year!
    Joker Game: Still confusing. 😛
Kiznaiver: Finally something is happening! But I don’t understand the Kizuna system at all. All I know is that some wackos are part of it 😑
Boku no Hero Academia: My favourite for this season! This is so enjoyable, I got really impatient and read the manga. Now I’m waiting for both the anime and the manga. 😢
Lost village was so weird! I was going to watch it but after I finished watching the first episode, I was like, eh? I dropped it after that 😝
I was really, really excited for this season but most of the shows turned out to be disappointing 😢

    1. I really don’t tend to check out the manga for anime, mostly because I prefer either watching anime or reading books. Manga just kind of seem somewhere inbetween.
Yeah, the Kizuna system is making no sense at all and every clue we get actually makes it less plausible as a real system.
      Thanks for your comment.

  2. I think it’s time I put Bungo Stray Dogs on hold. It really hasn’t been too interesting for me so far, but I might come back to it at a later date.

    1. There’s a few I feel I should do that to at the moment. But then I just keep thinking that this is the week it might get better.

  3. Omg I agree with everything you rated. Bungou is my fav. Kiznaiver I’m still watching not my fav but I’m still interested. Also joker game. Flying witch and hundred God can they end already Hahahah

  4. I dropped a few shows this week. Twin Star Exorcists, Joker Game and Unhappy. I’m also not very interesting in watching the new Mayoiga either. I think this is just an off week for me with anime but I did need to drop a couple shows. Bakuon, Flying Witch, Sakamoto and Kabaneri are still my favorites.

The last episode of Big Order was beyond horrible. It’s so funny how bad this show continues to get.

    1. Well, at least I picked up My Hero Academia. Hopefully I’ll be caught up by next week and be able to add it to the list.
