March Podcast for Patrons – Mecha Anime

heavy object

This month I turned my attention to Mecha anime in my podcast for patrons (patrons, if you are wanting the password for the podcast post, it is available on my patreon site for you). If you are interested the following anime are discussed:

  • Evangelion
  • Gundam
  • Full Metal Panic
  • Star Driver
  •  Knights of Sidonia
  •  Heavy Object
  • Code Geass
  • Darling in the Franxx

If you are interested in becoming a patron and accessing the monthly podcast or patron only episode reviews, please visit my patreon site. I am going to continue to work towards creating better content and a greater variety of content and I really appreciate your support.

Goals - March 2018

Once I reach $50 a month I plan to hopefully release a video post for patrons (and once I get better at making videos doing this with some frequency).

At $100 a month I plan to remove WordAds from my site which means patron only posts will not have any advertising attached to them.

At $300 a month, in addition to patron videos that will hopefully be more regular by then, I will produce 1 video post a month for the blog which patrons will have early access to. Increasing that to 2 video posts a month at $500. Though these are goals at this point in time and will need to be reviewed as I get closer to these targets.

However, I would love to know what you would like to see on the blog and if you become a patron what you would like to see as a reward. Be sure to let me know in the comments of visit my patreon site and give me some feedback.

Thanks for reading.

Another way you can support the content here is by buying a copy of ‘Thoughts on Anime 2017‘ as an ebook. It contains a selection of reviews, features and top 5 lists from 2017 and while the content is available free on the site, this is a great way to give a one off show of support for the blog. It is available for $3.99.

Finally, you can use the affiliate link to shop at Play-Asia.com ifPlay-Asia.com - Play-Asia.com: Online Shopping for Digital Codes, Video Games, Toys, Music, Electronics & more you are interested in anime, soundtracks, figures or games. 1. Was there one called Teknoman? Made around the time of classics like Gundam? Nice choices, takes me back. If you ever do reviews on web novels give me a buzz. I’m on Patreon under one called The Red Lands

      1. I know right! I only remembered it when I read your blog. Thanks for the reply, and keep up those great listings! If you ever come across readers interested in reincarnation stories, send them my way.

  2. I think I’ve watched too many mech series for my own good. Not sure what to suggest.

Still, this was a great listen. I do agree about your thoughts about knights of sidonia. It was lacking in a lot of ways, including visually.

You have me interested in Star Driver though.

    1. Star Driver is one of those anime that you either really like or it just doesn’t end up working for you. Definitely a strange mix that one.
Here’s a question: Which version of the Gundam franchise would you most recommend?

      1. If a person was starting Gundam, 00 and Iron Blooded Orphans first. Then, definitely stuff from the Universal Century afterwards.

  3. Evangelion (mommy-daddy issues and Japanese pseudo-Xtian annihilism), Macross and sequels, Getter Robo, Voltron (original and new), Gundam 0080 (21 episodes of boring and 5 eps of awesome conclusion), Martian Successor Nadesico which parodies all above. Nadesico is the best, but you have to see all the others to get the jokes and why it is so fantastic. Its also one of the best English language dubs made and bankrupted the studio temporarily during and after production. The voice actors are famous today, most of the staff at ADV and Funimation are from Nadesico.

    1. Martian Successor Nadesico is still on my eventual watch list though I haven’t seen some of the other shows so that probably just made my watch list longer. Thanks for the comment.

  4. To be honest those seem to be great goals for a blog using patreon! 🙂 Something that I never thought was starting using other types of media to make patreon more interesting and put people following it! Great job!!! I would had join you a long time ago… if I was not broke at the moment >.<

    1. That’s the general problem with patreon. You are asking followers, who are usually financially in the same position you are, to voluntarily pay for content.
I must admit, I am working much harder this year to try to ensure patrons actually get something back for their support because I am very thankful for their contributions.
