Inquiring Minds Want to Know #22

Inquiring Minds Want To Know

The question today really stressed me out. It was like trying to choose who your favourite child was (assuming I actually had children). On that note though, now I want to know everyone else’s answer to this question.

Remember, I’d love to answer a question from you so fill in the survey below or DM on twitter.

Who is an anime character that you feel needs a hug the most?

hugs

There are just so many anime characters badly in need of a hug that this question was pure torture as I tried to narrow down my list. I mean even a character like Tsukamoto from Days is a character I felt was in dire need of a hug, I’m just not sure who I would like to see give him that hug.

However, getting a little more serious, I’d love to give Yuri from Yuri on ice a hug. Actually, both Yuri’s in Yuri on Ice are in need of a hug at one point in the anime or another. And then Victor. When Yuri made Victor cry I wanted to give him a hug so badly and I’m not really the kind of person who is big on hugging others. But right then, if I could have, I would have given Victor the biggest hug until he was done crying.

Then of course we have Shinji from Evangelion who may have had a very different experience if he’d had anyone give him a hug or actual human warmth. Or someone like Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul who really needed someone there for him as he transformed into what he believed to be a monster.

However, despite all these excellent candidates for anime characters that I kind of feel need a hug, my number one pick would have to be Rei Kiriyama from March Comes in Like a Lion.

Fortunately, the lack of people in Rei’s life who were there to give him a hug when needed didn’t stop him from recognising when Hina needed someone. Rei was there for her in the best way possible and that just made me want to give him a hug even more. Can we please get a third season now because I need to know that Rei is going to alright?

So which character do you feel needs a hug the most. Of course if you want to ask me a question please DM me on Twitter or complete the survey below.

  1. This would be a difficult question to answer for sure. When I think of giving an anime character a hug, Itsuki from Initial D comes to mind. He’s such a great friend, but he’s treated like the joker or the goofy idiot of the crew (not going to lie, he can definitely be that way sometimes) but there is so much depth to him. He’s lonely and trying to fit in while not getting left behind as his best friend discovers his passion and moves forward really fast. A second character that comes to mind is Levi Ackerman, especially after season three and more so after the tough decision he made in the last couple episodes of that season. Handsome man really needed a hug and a shot of bourbon.

  2. Misaki Suzuhara from Angelic Layer. She’s such a sweet kid and spent so many years putting on a brave face after her mother practically abandoned her, that I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to reach through the screen and hug an anime character more than in the scene where all the hurt and anger and sorrow she’s been bottling up for seven years finally boils over.

  3. Even though there may be others who need it more urgently, I’d nominate Yuuri Oriki from Chivalry of a Failed Knight. It’s probably because I’m rewatching it and it’s fresh in my mind, but she’s so supportive and energetic on behalf of her students, but she collapses so often that I think she needs a sustaining hug.

    1. If she’s collapsing maybe she needs a medical exam before the hug. I honestly don’t remember enough about that anime at this point. I didn’t mind it but it didn’t really stick with me either.

You would have to be practical about it, woudn’t you? 🙂

Seriously, in the series, she’s often in the hospital. So hospital + hug might be even better for her.

  4. Well…I didn’t have to think very hard for this one for a change😊 I would have loved to have given a hug to Kaori from Your Lie in April. She was such a strong character, always there for others, while at the same time we all know this was a front as she needed a lot of help herself 😊
Speaking of March Comes in Like a Lion, I will finally restart my watch for it, after I finish with Black Lagoon😊It’s been too long really 😅😅
