Question: What series would you give a second season ? From Joseph
Right, I know Snow White With The Red Hair has a second season, but where is season 3? There’s still so much I want to see these characters get up to and I just want more from them. And while we’re on giving things a third season, Noragami? Seriously. Why does this not have a third season yet?
But to take this question a little more seriously, I really wanted to see DanMachi get a second season, and that’s been announced, so I’m really happy about that. Again, it is a case where I fell in love with the characters and I just want to spend more time with them. That’s what all of these shows have in common. I want to spend more time with the characters. The stories are good, don’t get me wrong, but there are other shows with stories just as good. What makes me want these shows to continue is that watching them feels like visiting old friends and it is just pure joy.
So what else?
I could probably go on but the list might get a little silly after awhile. It doesn’t surprise me that the majority of these shows are character driven over plot driven (Gangsta might be an exception but the thing ended mid-story). Basically, with plot driven stories I like them to tell their story and come to an end. I enjoy the completeness of that process and that the story brings itself to a reasonable and timely close.
Character driven stories I like to see the small changes in the characters and their relationships over time and I quite enjoy the show taking its time, so multiple seasons are kind of appreciated.
Thanks for the great question and letting me think through some really great anime that I would love to see continue.
Over to the readers and I’m wondering what you would like to see get a second season?
Thanks for reading.

My youngest and I loved OHSHC, so that is definitely one anime that we want more of. My husband and I just finished The Ancient Magus’ Bride, and would definitely like to see more.
The Ancient Magus’ Bride certainly left itself open for more story.
Definitely keen on Gangsta Season 2! I think that despite the nice way that they tied up Baccano, there’s probably a lot more that could be said given the extension of the stories in the light novels.
Other very notable mentions:
Elfen Lied
Highschool of the Dead
Fruits Basket
Highschool of the Dead – yes. I would absolutely love to see more of that.
After thinking about it for a bit, I ended up with a short list of botched, inconclusive or clearly incomplete anime adaptions. I think out of that list, the ones that most deserved a second season were Grimgar (because it felt incomplete and only went through a few characters’ stories in detail) and Morose Mononokean (which introduced something game-changing about the main character about halfway through and then didn’t do anything with it for the rest of the episodes).
Yeah, the Morose Mononokean did leave us hanging with quite a few points and never felt resolved. It would be great to find out where that was going to go. Good call.
I really liked Lord Marksman and Vanadis. although I forgot about it until I just read that here.
I think my top pick for a second season would be Claymore. It was just getting so good and was setup perfectly for more content.
Yes. The worst thing about Claymore is it just kind of stops. More would be great.
Personally, I’d love to see Ouran High School Host Club get a second season. There’s plenty of manga chapters left to cover, and from what I’ve heard it has an excellent conclusion that will leave most viewers more satisfied than the current ending of the BONES adaption. Sure, it may not be high art, but it’s certainly an excellent parody and a show that I find endlessly entertaining.
More Ouran High School Host Club would be kind of fun. It is definitely an anime I enjoy returning to and spending more time with those characters would be awesome.
