And we’re finally starting the new week. I’m going to be honest, this post was scheduled before I left and I am now on break. I will be back on the 8th of July but I obviously won’t have an In Case You Missed It post next week as I won’t have read anything to share. I hope everyone has a great week and I hope you enjoy the posts I found last week that I’ve shared below.
- Thanks to people who have sent me some more questions for my Inquiring Minds series. This will pick up again once I’m back from my break. If you want to be a part of the series or have a question for me complete the two question survey here. The second question is optional, but if you answer it I will provide the name of the person who asked the question and link back to your blog when I respond. Questions can be about anything though I may not answer it if it is too personal. So far I’ve answered every question so we’ll see how we go.
Kawaii Paper Pandas shares their favourite openings and endings from the Spring anime season this week counting them down and explaining their reasons. Lists are always fun and when they include the music clip and good explanations they make for a great read. Be sure to check it out and share your favourite OP’s and ED’s of the season.
The Anime Glutton shares their rankings for the Spring 2018 season and they weren’t exactly impressed by what was on offer (a feeling shared fairly largely by a number of viewers this season). That said, if you want to check out what they recommended and what they didn’t and why, be sure to see the post.
The Luminous Mongoose discusses Anzu from Hinamatsuri and her journey as a character and why that made her the best girl. While I still haven’t seen this series it has been heavily recommended to me and I’m going to get to it soonish. This post was great fun to read, though people who aren’t fans of spoilers may find it a bit too detailed. I quite enjoyed reading it.
Cactus Matt takes on a twenty question review of Citrus and looks at some of the problems with the romance but also some of the good things about the series. This is another anime I haven’t watched so don’t really have a comment on (given I dropped it at the second episode) but I quite enjoyed reading this review.
Arthifis shares another lesson for bloggers, this time on how to get Google to pay attention to your blog. Be sure to check out this post if you are a blogger and read the information as for a lot of bloggers, getting found is one of the hardest hurdles to overcome.
Anime Madhouse takes on Amnesia the anime and reviews it, and the end result is pretty amusing providing you didn’t much like the anime or the heroine. I will put a spoiler warning on the post though because he does detail each route the anime covers and more or less how it concludes. Still, if you put yourself through watching Amnesia and found yourself asking why the heroine had no personality, this post will probably give you a few laughs. Clearly I didn’t think much of Amnesia either and my thoughts can be found here.
Marshmellow Pastel looks at A Certain Scientific Railgun and competent mediocrity in storytelling. It looks at the fact that while something may not be great that doesn’t mean we won’t enjoy it. Anyway, it ends up being a kind of fun review and one I’m glad I stumbled across this week.
Juju over on Soul Chain blog looks at the idea of community in Tari Tari and presents a passionate and interesting post that is relevant to all whether you’ve watched the anime or not, though knowledge of the anime would probably be an advantage here. Be sure to check this one out.
Kat Stark continues to share some interesting make-overs and this week she has one inspired by Midoriya from My Hero Academia. It is a fantastic step by step guide with a great final photo (she looks amazing). Be sure to check it out, and if you are interested she’s shared some fantastic Harry Potter inspired make-overs as well.
Pick of the Week
Jenn from Welcome to Hell Zone is doing a rewatch of Revolutionary Girl Utena and at episode one decided to ask the question of what on earth Utena is wearing and why. It leads into quite an interesting post that then points fingers at other anime protagonists who seemingly just wear whatever they want to. I was reading this post just expected a usual recap of the first episode and ended up very much drawn into the discussion around the characters. Well worth a read if you missed it this week.
