Welcome everyone to another fine week in aniblogging. We’ve finally hit December which means a few things. Firstly, I haven’t made good on the whole get a video out this year thing due to work blowing up in my face for two months before finally finding my feet again (amazing that severe stress can really hinder work on new projects). I’m hoping to still get it out this year, but realise it may not happen. Next week will tell, I guess. Secondly, readers are getting closer to finding out what the count down on my blog has been for, but you’ll have to wait a little bit longer yet for that one.
However, you aren’t here for me to babble at you. You are here to get some links to some great blog posts to read and so the list of posts that caught my eye this week are below. As always, you are welcome to give a shout out to an anime related blog post in the comments below.
Scott from Mechanical Anime Reviews shares their thoughts on the 2017 Kino’s Journey and why it hasn’t really worked for them. I hadn’t watched the original and I didn’t mind the first couple of episodes of the 2017 season, though the mid-season episodes have left me decidedly not caring about the show which is probably an issue. Anyway, this was an interesting post that looked at the changes made from the original to this series and why it might be so different.
Seasonal Prattle comes through once again with some solid advice for bloggers. If you don’t follow Prattle, you really should as almost every week you get a solid bit of advice or a reminder about what you should be focussed on as you continue your journey as a blogger. Also, some great posts with links to other great blogs.
From two amazing bloggers (Remy Fool and Irina), there is a discussion on blogger decorum split into two parts. Definitely worth checking out as the questions are probably ones you’ve considered as a blogger and you are getting responses from two bloggers who are both fairly active in the community and amusing to read. Give it a read.
Mel in Anime Land had their most recent post for OWLS on Diplomacy where they focused on Chain Chronicle and what happens when two characters don’t even really try to be diplomatic. I really enjoyed Chain Chronicle when it came out earlier this year so I was happy to see someone writing about it and it was an interesting take on the theme for the month. If you missed this one it is worth checking out.
Otaku Lounge gives us another discussion between Artemis and Watson about whether an anime is really that bad and the anime this time is Diabolik Lovers. If you happen to be a fan of the show, you should probably give this post a miss. If you haven’t watched it, or you have put yourself through a viewing experience, you might get a great laugh from this post.
English Light Novels has a holiday buying guide so if you are looking for something for yourself for Christmas, or have a friend who might like to try a light novel, there’s probably something on this list they’ll enjoy.
Moe Sucks has a write up of Juni Taisen episode 9 and at least I’m not the only person fed up with the predictable and boring nature of this show. It is a point only made worse by the fact that the advertising around this show keeps trying to act like it is thrilling and that somehow there’s some sort of surprise to be had while watching. The only thing surprising me is that I’m still watching. Anyway, I wouldn’t recommend this post if you actually really like the show, but if you want to share some frustration with how little the story has done, great post to check out.
Astral Gemini from The Zodiac Room has a fantastic write up about Heaven’s Memo Pad. I’m not one to usually throw around the term underrated because people enjoy what they like and is something isn’t popular that’s fine, but I do think this is one anime that flies well under the radar and really should get a bit more discussion (so possibly I should get around to writing my review of it sooner rather than later). If you haven’t heard of this anime, go read this post and then track down the anime and give it a go.
Pick of the Week
Okay Little Anime Blog is back and already has a feature out that I just loved reading on anime’s amnesia problem. If you are a newer blogger you may not have come across this blog before because they’ve been on hiatus for a bit but Dominic and Elizabeth are fantastic and they run a great blog so I was really happy when I saw their return notice. The very next day they starting putting out content and this post really grabbed my attention. Definitely go check out the post and if you haven’t visited their blog before, check out some of their older posts. It will be worth it.
Thanks for reading.
