In Case You Missed It

Another week, another round of links to some great blog posts. It’s been busy thinning out the watch list for Autumn but I think I’m finally there and I’ve been loving some of the thoughts and discussions that have come from these opening weeks. As always, feel free to add a link to a post in the comments if you would like to share a great post (anime/manga/gaming related preferably).

Couch Warrior has a really great read about Days and how perseverance wins hearts. I felt this article kind of perfectly captured what I’m enjoying about watching Days.

Lethargic Ramblings shared the list of their 5 worst anime of summer. It’s an interesting list and seeing the reasoning for their choices is great. As more and more people are wrapping up summer there have been a lot of these best of and worst of lists so it’s interesting to compare what people have thought.

Another Lethargic Ramblings post that I loved this week was their First Impressions of Bloodivores. I think they really managed to capture exactly why the series just isn’t particularly good.

Wherever I Look 2.0 has a nice post about Izetta identifying the highlights of the first episode and some things that they were on the fence about. If you are still tossing up whether to pick up Izetta: The Last Witch this is worth checking out.

AnimeLoot explains why you should watch Yuri On Ice so for those of you still on the fence it may be worth checking out.

Weekend Otaku shares a fairly comprehensive review of Kill la Kill. So if you are like me and are one of the very few anime fans out there who hasn’t watched the series through yet you should probably go check it out because it might help you decide whether it is worth your time.

Bobble Anime gives a good review of Nanbaka Episode 2. I dropped this series because I just wasn’t that interested so my episode 2 review was pretty much me explaining why I wasn’t interested. If you are looking for an actual review of the episode this is a good one to check out.

And another one from Bobble Anime. They have an excellent deconstruction of the characters and events from Yuri on Ice episode 2. They’ve put a lot of thought into this post though there are a lot of spoilers if you haven’t watched the episode yet. For those who did, this is a great read.

The Glorio Blog gives us their first impressions of Occult;Nine and I must say I had more fun reading this than watching the episode. Minor language warning on the post but otherwise this was a fantastic read (though maybe not if you enjoyed the first episode of this anime).

Snow★sthetics over on Strictly Ridiculous shares their thoughts on Orange. They certainly found the show’s strengths so if you are wanting to look back on the show this will be a good read. I know I’ve been fairly critical of Orange so this is a nice look at the otherside of it.

Lastly, Arria Cross has shared a fantastic post titled 10 Little Everyday Things You Can Do To Be More Otaku over on Fujinsei.  It’s a hilarious read and amusing to imagine what the world would be like if everyone actually started following that advice.

As always, if you have come across a great post, please feel free to leave a link in the comments.

  1. Oh my gosh. So much “Yuri on Ice” posts. I love them! I squeal like a demented madwoman whenever my Twitter timeline and blog reader are littered with “Yuri on Ice” screenshots. Eheheh~
Anyway, my big thanks for featuring my post. I appreciate it very much. Take care. Cheers!

    1. You have to admit there are some great screen shots from Yuri on Ice coming up on Twitter. It’s almost like you don’t have to wait a week between episodes because you just constantly get bombarded with the characters.

  2. I thought Kill la Kill was pretty bold for stepping outside the comfort zone–and it paid off, too! Very intriguing show, a neat ride for sure. I hope you invest time into it one day.

  3. Thank you so much for the mention. It’s helped get my review a lot of views!

Great roundup this week as well. It’s always fun to go through what you’ve highlighted here.

  4. These posts of yours are so helpful, I keep up with the blogs I follow on a regular basis, but sometimes I still manage to miss some good stuff. I trust you to find talented people to follow too ^^

  5. Thanks for the mention! I wrote the post on a whim, but your like and kind comments has really motivated me to continue writing. Also enjoying to read your blog and the others you recommend. Keep up the great stuff everyone.

  6. Wow, thank you so much for the mention!

I definitely didn’t expect to make the list.

    Glad you enjoyed the posts.

An extra thumbs up for all the other posts shared as well, they’re all excellent reads! I find these posts of yours to be a great way for me to find interesting posts I may not have seen.

    1. I think next week the list may be a bit short. I’ve got a lot on so may not get to as many blogs. That said, I’m glad people are finding these useful.

  7. Thank you so much for the mentions. I really appreciate it! This is a great idea since I’m not quite sure where to start reading.
