So Spring started (or at least the Spring anime season did given I’m getting ready for Winter). How was that for a first week? Yeah, I’m still figuring out my opinion on the new season as well. There’s a lot of hype around some of the shows coming out so I guess the question becomes whether it is worth it. In the meanwhile, I found some great posts from some great bloggers and I’ve shared the links below. Feel free to give a shout out to a post you liked (or wrote) in the comments.
Shameless self-promotion: As you all know I started a patreon site for my blog and am looking for patrons to support the expansion of 100 Word Anime. Thanks to my patrons who already support this site. End shameless self-promotion.
Cauthan Reviews takes on March Comes in Like a Lion in this review. If you missed sangatsu over the last two seasons, I really recommend checking out this post.
Atelier Emily has a look at the first episode of Alice & Zoroku and looks at some of the visual issues as well as the references. I’m still on the fence with this anime, and I am enjoying reading other people’s takes on the first episode.
Artemis from Otaku Lounge gives their anime awards from 2016 (I really love some of their category names). This was a great read through, particularly their reasons for each award.
All Adrealinia has a great post about ACCA and why it is fun to watch even while acknowledging that it isn’t for everyone. If you haven’t checked out ACCA this is a short review and really highlights the strength of the show’s choices in story telling.
Contrasting this, Criticism and Thoughts has an equally interesting post about ACCA but is a little bit more critical. At this point I kind of feel ACCA is this seasons replacement for Yuri on Ice in terms of an anime I’ve loved reading posts about. Somehow I don’t think ACCA posts will hang around as long which is a shame because there’s some really good discussion happening about this anime.
The Only Shinyuu Site has a review of Red Data Girl. This is a series I don’t see much on (not that it is an amazing series but it is kind of interesting) so I was pleasantly surprised to come across this review. It’s also fairly fair in calling the show out on some of its weaker elements.
Neetaku Rants has a rant about Ash and Misty but it offers some compelling evidence that these two kids should have gotten together. Actually, quite a bit of compelling evidence. It’s an interesting read at any rate and worth checking out.
The Anime Prince checked out Hand Shakers and gave their quite informative and detailed view on the issues with the visuals on the series. Definitely a better post than the usual rant against Hand Shakers and worth checking out.
I had to add this post from D Talks Anime on Yuri from Yuri on Ice. It’s an awesome post on a topic I love hearing about and talking about. If you haven’t had your fill of Yuri on Ice posts, here is one to check out that focusses on character.
And while we’re on Yuri on Ice, I also have to share Arria’s post from Fujinsei which gives us 10 Signs That You’ve Watch Too Much Yuri on Ice. The worst part about this mock list is that I’m probably guilty of 5 of them, but whichever way, it was great to read and also reminded me once again about all the fun things in Yuri on Ice.
Lastly, Weekend Otaku is rewatching Your Lie in April for April and is posting episodic thoughts. If you haven’t been on board already you can check out the posts so far here.
That’s all from me.
