In Case You Missed It 2020 #5

It’s been a busy, busy, busy week and at times it feels like I haven’t had time to breathe. I will admit, I’ve broken my previous rule about not checking my phone/blog while at work a number of times this week when I’ve had five minutes to catch my breath, largely because it has helped settle me and get me back on track and also because otherwise I probably would have just vanished if I’d only been online when not at work. I’ve spent more hours than I’m going to admit at work this week and next week is looking equally hectic.

Be that as it may, we’re all here for anime. Below I’ve compiled my posts, Irina’s posts, the collaborations I’m working on, as well as posts from around the aniblogging community. Hopefully you find something fun to read.

Wooderon discusses Somali and the Forest Spirit 3 episodes in. If you want to know whether you should jump on board this anime this season, this post may very well convince you Somali is worth the time.
Lynn Sheridan looks at 7 villains from 2019. Who were your favourite bad guys last year? Be sure to check out the post as there are some great options on the list.
Ty-Chama reviews Astra Lost in Space discussing how the anime won them over and some of its more charming features. They’ve kept it light on details that might count as spoilers so if you haven’t watched the series yet, this review might convince you without giving anything specifically away.
Plebby discusses Kyokou Suiri and how it has failed in some aspects of storytelling, though despite the post title this post very much explores some of things this series has done very well so far. An interesting post to read about In/Spectre.
Jenn discusses Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken and the power of imagination that younger people have. It is a reflective piece that examines how Eizouken portrays its characters as well as examining how we lose a bit of that wonder as we get older.
Fortress William looks back at Gate and asks ‘who is Rory Mercury?‘ Now, I really enjoyed the GATE series, wish there was more of it, and Rory is a fairly unforgettable part of that series. Loved reading this post.
General Tofu on The Backloggers discuss how anime can (and can’t) successfully talk about big ideas. It is a really great post that uses three concrete examples from current and recently aired anime to make its point. Most definitely a post to read if you missed it last week.

    1. That post was great and touched on a subject I have been tossing around and thinking of writing about at some point but hadn’t gotten to.
