In Case You Missed It 2019 #32

It is that time of season again. The poll for the best anime of the Summer season opened on Thursday. Be sure to get your vote in and share the poll with others. The poll will close at the end of September but people are definitely getting in fast this season which just shows that this Summer really has been hot.

As always though, I’ve found some great posts from the ani-blogging community to share. Hopefully you find something fun to read and as always if you have a post you’d like to give a shout out to send me a message via my contact or on Twitter.

Jessi Silver discusses their first impressions of The One’s Within. This anime has been really overlooked this season and while the most recent episodes have me wondering a bit at whether it will hold on until the end or just fall apart, up until the mid-season The One’s Within was a show that just kept getting quietly better. If you didn’t check out the first episode, this first impressions post may convince you to give it a go.

Crow brings us coverage of the best moment from episode 9 of Astra Lost in Space and it was a glorious moment. This is a fun revisit on the episode and a good look at the strength of the characters at the core of the show. If you’ve been following Astra this season be sure to check out Crow’s coverage of it.

7mononoke has a great review of Higurashi. As this is one of my favourite horror/mystery anime I always appreciate finding a review or discussion around it. They take great pains not to include spoilers and cover the two seasons of Higurashi that build up and reveal the mystery. If you haven’t seen the anime and are curious, this review is a spoiler free overview and will probably make you interested in giving it a watch.

Lesley has a review of The Last: Naruto the movie that is to the point and gives a brief summary of the events and how it ties in with the series. If you haven’t seen the film but enjoy Naruto this one is worth having a look at.

Never Argue With A Fish gives us a wonderfully spoiler free review (and glowing recommendation) of The Promised Neverland. It is a hard anime to talk about without going into full spoiler territory and I give them credit here for managing to capture the tone of the show and provide reasons for watching while withholding most of the details that might count as spoilers. Anyway, if you are one of the few who didn’t see it while it was airing, check out this review and hopefully it will make you want to watch the anime.

The Promised Neverland Episode 5 Norman

As part of the 30 Day Anime Challenge, I Watched An Anime talks about their favourite supporting character and turns their attention to Parasyte. This quick read will remind you of a truly great character and carries a lot of enthusiasm.

We Be Bloggin’ had a wonderful post about revisiting Banana Fish and musing over whether the story held up and whether watching it in a binge made it more enjoyable or not. It was a great read and to be honest it was great to revisit these characters and this story. If you missed Banana Fish while it was airing or have been curious about it, now might be the time to check it out.

Posts For Patrons

To The Abandoned Sacred Beasts Episodes 9 + 10 are now reviewed for patrons. Things take a turn for the slightly depressing with Hank in these two episodes but Schaal has us covered as she is determined to see things through.

    1. No problem. I really enjoy your best in show posts. They kind of remind me that I want to celebrate the good moments in anime as it is way too easy to get into a critical mindset when you watch a lot of shows each season.

I'd love to know what you think.
