In Case You Missed It 2019 #22

Alright, there’s a lot of posts from the last couple of day rather than the whole week and that’s realistically because I have been off the charts busy and then got to Friday and just pulled the plug on being productive and binged watched Evangelion on Netflix. I regret nothing in that decision.

However, it did mean that I had a few gaps in my post schedule and I didn’t get to quite as many posts to read as normal. I’d like to say next week will be better but I’m actually looking at 5 days with very little to no internet next week due to my standard family gathering that occurs. I will have some posts scheduled but my final coverage of the spring season will have to be finalised when I get back and I’ll be ready to kick off my coverage of the Summer anime season and get right back into things.

Hopefully you’ve enjoyed my coverage of Spring despite my missing the start of the season, and then playing catch-up for most of the rest of the season. It’s just been a ridiculously busy three months. But looking at the second half of the year things should be a lot more subdued – I hope.

Hopefully you find something fun to read and as always if you have a post you’d like to give a shout out to send me a message via my contact or on Twitter. And the best of the season poll results will come out on Friday.

Crow and Irina discuss episode 12 of Demon Slayer. If you haven’t been following their coverage of the series you should really get on board because reading their discussion is just as fun as watching the episode. Be sure to check the post out but only after you watch the episode.

Annie-me has an excellent post about crafting villains and uses as their example Muruem from Hunter x Hunter. Yes there are spoilers are plenty here for those who haven’t watched through that particular arc of the story yet, but for those who have it is an excellent dive into the character and a post well worth reading.

Ty-chama covers episode 12 of Fruits Basket and the introduction of Akito. If you want to have a closer look at how Akito manages to terrify and traumatise through just a few words and gestures, this post has you covered examining the nuances in language and body language that permeated the scene.

The Rogue Shogunate explains why they didn’t like Nichijou. As someone who regularly finds comedy anime just not their cup of tea I kind of related to this post even though I’ve never tried the anime in question. Certainly I didn’t read anything in this post that would encourage me to watch it.

Space Whales reviews Hitoribocchi and while I’m still working myself up to watch the final episode, they actually found it a fairly pleasant viewing experience (which actually seems to be the more popular view on the show). Still, this review isn’t just a praise fest as it does get into some of the weaker elements of the anime and ultimately it gives you a pretty good idea of what you will get if you try Hitoribocchi. Well worth reading if you haven’t tried the anime and you are still on the fence about whether you should watch it.

Ethan_07 has a review of the third season of Bungo Stray Dogs. I suspect this is the first review of quite a number that I’ll read and I enjoyed their take on the series. While a lot of my ongoing issues with the narrative of Bungo remain even after season three, I can’t deny that individual episodes are fun.

Pick of the Week

Biblionyan has a great post reviewing Tada Never Falls in Love and looking at the loneliness felt by the protagonist and how this manifests throughout the series, as well as how his walls are broken down by the support cast throughout the series. It is a great take on an anime that kind of disappeared from people’s awareness after it finished airing, so if you haven’t seen it and are curious be sure to check out this post.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing my review! It was really personal for me to write that one because of how much I related to it and I had been struggling with writing it for a while, so this made me feel very happy. Thanks. ♥

  2. As someone who has been behind lately on other blogs, content like this is very helpful. I always end up looking for it first when I’m catching up.

I'd love to know what you think.
