In Case You Missed It

Last week I was back at work on a more regular basis but that just means I had to work to get my routine back into gear so that I can keep up with everything. There have been some great first impressions on the Winter season as well as some really interesting articles being shared around. As usual, this week I’ve gathered a collection of some of my favourite blog posts from the week. If I’ve missed something that you feel needs a shout out feel free to add a link in the comments.

Shameless self-promotion: In case you missed it, last week I officially signed up to Patreon and am now looking for patrons. If you like what I do here on 100 Word Anime I’d really appreciate it if you would support my continuing to grow this blog (or if you could pass the word on to others). I’m also holding a poll to find out which OP is everyone’s favourite this early in the season so if you’d like to vote go here. If your favourite isn’t included select other and comment your favourite. End shameless self-promotion.

Daily Anime Art shared some images of Orochimaru Cosplay and they are pretty amazing. If you didn’t catch this post you really should go and check out this cosplay by Elena89Hikari. It will really blow you away.

D Talks Anime has a fascinating post about the characters and relationships in Durarara. As an anime I’ve read a lot about but didn’t watch much of, this post kind of made me feel like I was actually missing out on something. So Durarara is going back on my eventual to watch list that never seems to get any shorter. Anyway, check out their post.

Kurumi looks at 5 reasons why Sailor Moon is the most influential magical girl. As a crazy Sailor Moon fan I could overlook this post this week.

Prattle (on their new look blog) have a post on How to Recognise a Terrible Character. Despite taking a swipe at one of my favourite characters, this is a really good article to read and makes you think about all those characters who fit Prattle’s criteria for being not very good.

I absolutely have to share this post from Cain S Latrani called Stupid Anime is Still Anime. While a little rambling at times it addresses a lot of the endless circling arguments that happen online about anime and what anime is and whether a particular anime is terrible or industry destroying and I had great fun reading this.

Little Anime Blog has a fun post about anime vampires. If you don’t visit this blog regularly it is full of great features, news, reviews, and all things anime related and it is regularly updated so it is definitely one to watch.

Yaoi Playground has a post about the music of Yuri on Ice. They compare Yuri to other sports anime and look at the impact the music had. (Yes, I know I still haven’t got through one of these without a Yuri post. It will happen, I swear.)

I Have a Heroine Problem discusses Sexual Assault and Subversiveness in Kiss Him, Not Me. This is one of the few serious articles I’ve read in relation to this anime and it tackles some of the issues the series has in terms of content head-on and it isn’t a rant but rather a discussion.

Bobble Anime looks at the representations of monsters in Interviews with Monster Girls and how the story deals with discrimination and adolescence in episode 1. It’s a fun read about an episode that was pretty fun to watch.

Kevin Pennyfeather did an interesting review of the first episode of ACCA. Now I really enjoyed this first episode but couldn’t figure out what it was about the show that I liked but Kevin does an excellent job explaining just what worked in this episode.

Anime Corps have a fairly informative post this week Dissecting Anime Strike. While the focus is services and costs available in the US it is an interesting post to read if you are wondering about the different streaming services for anime.

And that’s it from me this week.

  1. Wow! Thanks for the shoutout. This is only my second time to be metioned by your awesome blog. The first one was when you featured my review on Shokugeki no Soma. 😊
Keep on this special content of your blog. This will help a lot of anime bloggers to be recognized because I know there are bloggers out there who deserve your mention.

  2. Thanks for the shout-out!
Also congratulations on the Patreon account. Your blog is already amazing – seriously though, do you use a time turner because the amount of stuff you get done is kinda stunning – and I’m interested to see the ways in which you plan to develop it further.

    1. I would love a time turner. Actually, that is more of less why I’m trying Patreon. At this point I have no more time and can’t really handly anything more than what I am with my blog th but I’d love to look at pod casting or even video reviews (as well as improving the written content or looking at industry news etc) though that is probably a very long term goal. So we’ll see where I get to because a lot of that is going to take a lot of time.

  3. Thanks for the shout out, it means a lot that you think our blog is one to follow. Best of luck with the Patreon too!

    1. Thank you. I love how diverse your content is and the consistent quality of it. I always look forward to seeing a new post in my reader.

      1. Didn’t think you were. I really do ramble at times. I get too many thoughts going at once. Always have.

So, no need for an apology. As a sailor once said, I yam what I yam.

I'd love to know what you think.
