So this was a vaguely better episode (which I guess isn’t a ringing endorsement of the show). I at least wasn’t counting the minutes and hoping something interesting might happen. The set up is lame. What protagonist in a show where there are zombies and magic powers doesn’t know that if a hot girl suddenly hits on you she’s probably going to try to kill you? And the fact that even the girl laughed at him for falling for such an obvious trap gives the show that annoyingly smug self-awareness vibe without actually being clever. That said, the episode is definitely better in terms of delivering a story and the main character is a little less painful this week. If the show could keep moving in this direction it might even be half-decent by the end of the series.
