Granblue Fantasy Episode 12

Review:

All the way through this I just kept thinking it felt like the end of a season. It wasn’t giving us answers but it just felt like this was the final battle. Turns out episode 13 is an extra so that feeling wasn’t misplaced.

So then I have to ask, what was the point? Yes, the journey continues and there are all these new characters with very cool fighting skills (meanwhile where were these guys during the last fight in this city) and all the old faces have returned but we’re no closer to the island of the astrals, Gran’s father, or knowing anything about Lyria. Though, Lyria did at least get a nice character point where she finally wants to know about herself. Still, 12 episodes of floating around, fighting the occasional primal beast, meeting people and the like; fun as it was, it really is kind of pointless.

Still, watch Gran win another fight? Okay.

Granblue Fantasy is available on Crunchyroll.

  1. Yup, random characters showed up and practically wiped the floor with the trash mobs. Highlight of the series; Katalina and Rosetta. I’d chuck in Vyrn as well. Io is just annoying.

  2. I couldn’t agree more with you. This whole season just felt like a prologue which they could’ve summed up rather than spend 12 episodes on. At least this might’ve given the show to give some spotlight to the colourful characters that made an appearance in this episode.
Just out of curiosity, if there was a second season to this coming out, would you watch it?

    1. It depends on what else was out that season. This hasn’t ever been interesting enough to be a must watch and while it works there’s plenty I like more. If it was a slow season, I’d watch a sequel of this but otherwise I’d probably be passing.

      1. I see where you’re coming from. I have to say I agree with you on this one. It’s an anime I’m probably going to forget about by the time next season starts so I probably wouldn’t go out my way to watch another season of it either.

    1. It really felt something like that. There were just so many randoms who suddenly showed up. And what really is an issue is that almost all of them were more interesting and more powerful than most of the group we’ve been following this whole time. Their appearance just made me wish some of them were the main characters of this show.
