Fastest Finger First Episode 8: No Reward Without Risk

Review Episode 8:

And the competition has begun. There’s not a lot to say about this episode other than I had a lot of fun watching the team take a paper quiz and then two rounds of buzzing. There’s some character stuff going on with the girl they met at the arcade and the whole potential rivalry thing between Koshiyama and the guy from that other school, but basically if you’ve been enjoying the quiz element of this show, that’s what you get this episode.

Though, I have to wonder how often this guy actually adjusts his glasses. It is getting to the point where I have to assume they are a fashion statement and not needed because no one who wears glasses for actual sight purposes would play with them that much.

I really enjoyed the two answers thing as it gave another spin on the buzz and answer format. So this show isn’t the stand out of the season or the show you should definitely jump on board with if you haven’t already started it, but if you like quizzes then it might be a relaxing bit of viewing this season.

  1. “no one who wears glasses for actual sight purposes would play with them that much.”

I concur. I’d smudge the hell out of them if I did and I already have enough trouble with that. There’s a reason I prefer contacts.

(…again, a response that has nothing to do with the show. Oops.)

    1. True, but that observation in the review had little to do with the show and more to do with the fact that I started having to wear glasses mid-last year for reading and I know that I wouldn’t have my fingers anywhere near them that often if I actually want to be able to see through them.

      1. I’ve been using them since 8thgrade and well, my eyesight keeps getting worse and I’m not getting any better at not smudging the lens…even when I don’t touch them. It’s magic. The bad kind.

Good luck to you on keeping them clear.

  2. I’ve been having a lot of fun with this show so far. Given how they covered some of the paper quiz stuff earlier it makes sense that they would revisit it in this round of competition, but I’m glad they didn’t spend too much time on it. There’s not much you can offer with the way of entertainment with just a straight question & answer like that.

The 2 answer format was cool though, and lives up to the risk/reward title. I’m enjoying seeing these different formats of quiz games as more and more the questions are being answered way before the audience has time to play along.

Slight spoiler alert: Arcade girl may not be a girl.

  3. I’ve been enjoying this show mainly because of the quiz element. I found the guy who the main character was paired up with annoying. Also about the glasses thing, I think that’s just what anime geniuses who wear glasses do.

  4. I know some people who push there glasses up a lot. Mine slip down fairly regularly as well. Could just be a habit that ties into that and because he thinks it looks cool. Just my guess. Episode was good. I was very confused about why they were in a church all of a sudden and then remembered about the Catholic school for girls XD
