Day 23 and introducing my most hated anime character.

This was actually kind of difficult due to the fact that generally when I actually dislike a character, particularly a main character, I usually end up not finishing a show. Which means while I remember hating a character I remember very little else about them after the fact.

So choosing a character from an anime I actually really liked, I’d have to say Eiji Nizuma from Bakuman.

This character serves an incredibly important role in both the plot and the development of other characters and yet every time he was on the screen I either wanted to slap him, roll my eyes, or just close my eyes and beg him to go away again. He’s like the hyperactive toddler who has just discovered how to wave and he drove me totally crazy. It doesn’t help that he actually is a hard working genius. I appreciate that he does work at his craft and that he’s good at it, but please don’t make me watch him or listen to him. Probably the best thing about him is that he isn’t on screen all that much.

So tell me, which anime character do you hate?

    1. It is quite interesting. There’s better out there but there’s quite a few points of interest in the series. I will have to get around to a review one of these days.

  1. I understand the offputting nature of Nizuma from Bakuman. The eccentric genius who is just ludicrous but somehow talented beyond belief, hard to understand because we can’t put ourselves in his shoes, much like the classic great detectives like Sherlock Holmes. Especially the Guy Ritchie version of Holmes. It’s those people who I also find quite annoying, but I think to me it is more that I find them annoying because I can’t understand how they are. Their thought pattern is obtuse, but they still are relatable because of their flaws proving that they are still like us.

I think my most hated character would have to be characters like Sora or Shiro from No Game no Life. The heroes who show no faults, who are eccentric yet never manage to feel human because of their insane abilities. Lacking in true fault that rounds a character and humanizes them, because being a shut-in is more of a cliche than a fault at this point. There is no point behind why they are so intelligent, or how they are so effective in games. To me its those types of characters that get me the most aggravated, because they lack the ability to make me see them as anything but protagonists. There is no joke, no theme, no real element that ties it all together for me.

  2. First name that popped into mind was Near from Death Note. He seemed like a very poor L-clone and the narrative just went to hell after he took the place as Light’s enemy.

  3. From the top of my head, it’s Shou Tucker from Fullmetal Alchemist. I hate that man with so much passion. From that anime, next that I hate is Envy because of what he did to Hughes.

  4. Sanji from One Piece. Hands down. Of course, the version of the challenge I got was “Most Annoying Character,” not “Most Hated Character,” so…

  5. Domon Kasshu from G-Gundam (to be fair I didn’t hate him at first, just after that later episode where he is such a jerk to that one character who stands by his side the whole time) and Shinn Asuka from Gundam Seed Destiny. I have to fast forward through his ranting scenes. Although I will rewind and replay the scene where Athrun slaps him for the first time. Ba ha ha.

  6. I kind of hate Misa Amane from Death Note. She was just so vapid and blind to Light’s evil that I just found her mind numbing everytime she was on screen, but she did at least have a purpose on the show. She’s just the one that jumped off the top of my head, but I’d have to think about it more…

  7. Whew, thanks to my bad memory, pretty much all of this challenge is… too challenging for me. I’m quite unsure about the most hated. I rarely hate characters after all. After thinking deeply for some minutes, I could only come up with this dude from Shirobako:

I don’t remember his name nor I wish to. I googled “dude shirobako” and found him. I truly hated his behaviour.

  8. As far as characters I hate, I’d put Ryoma Echizen from Prince of Tennis. He’s too much of a Marty Stu, a complete jerk, and is so unintentionally loathsome.

As far as characters I’m supposed to hate, I’d say Aki Honda from Shadow Star Narutaru. She is hands down the worst bully character ever with the horrible things she did to Hiroko.

  9. Character that I hated, I have a couple…Hiiragi Mahiru from Seraph of the End, I don’t care about her family rules, she basically became a demon just to have her little Romeo and Juliet story, maybe it will change more the manga will go further in the story, however as for now, I can’t stand her. There is also (sorry for the spoilers) Daniel Monroe, from Gangsta. I know in the Anime he seems pretty cool, but he is the one behind the 1st “war”, the reason why the Destroyer came 15 yrs prior the Gangsta. main story. He pretend that he care about the Twilight, he pretend he is their friend, but he is the 1st who will be happy to see them all death.

  10. Hmm….I have a very hated character, but I’m not going to say who it is, as it is really a heavy spoiler. Suffice it to say if you have seen the anime Erased, you know who it is 😊
