30 Day Anime Challenge: Day 14

30 day anime challenge copy e1495940892299

Here we are at Day 14 and we’re looking for my favourite drama or romance anime. Previously I have done a top 5 list of my favourite romantic anime and the winner then was Kimi ni Todoke. I don’t think anything has come out since to change my mind.

Kimi ni Todoke is just adorable to watch. I really love Sawako and Kazehaya as they slowly (and I do mean slowly) overcome her social awkwardness and eventually end up together.

My next choice after this would have been Snow White with the Red Hair.

What is your favourite romance or drama anime?

  1. Romance huh… Too hard. Or rather, can’t come up with anything as the only ones I can think of aren’t Anime. Darn it, if only Rewrite had a decent Lucia’s adaptation… Funny how my best one is a Chinese novel though….

  2. Hmm….had to think about this, but I don’t think I have ever seen a romance only Animeseries, unless I’m counting Yuri on Ice. But that wasn’t a pure to,Anne anime either….so….haven’t got an answer to this one 😀

  3. If you’ve ever seen an older show called Kanon, that show has stuck with me for a long, long time, and it made me cry far more than Clannad did. I think that probably has to take the spot of my favorite straight Drama.

For straight romance, kimi ni todoke is always a good choice. Love, Chuunibyo, and other delusions is also a really good one.

If we’re looking at the full combo, though, mixing Romance with Drama, i’ve got to go with Monogatari (specifically Bakemonogatari.) It’s just so good!

  4. Kimi ni Todoke was a favorite until I saw Ore Monogatari. I love how honest it is about relationships with a good dose of humor.

  5. Aww… Kazehaya and Sawako are real sweet! I think they have the most saccharine relationship out of all the romance series I’ve watched/read. They’re so pure! I just finished Tsuki ga Kirei and theirs is the sweetest innocent relationship I’ve seen so far.

Somehow, I can’t say that Akagami no Shirayukihime is a romantic anime because of the other elements of the story. But Zen x Shirayuki is one of the best couples out there! *^*

For me, I’d say Kimi ni Todoke, too. Or White Album 2. Now that I think of it, I don’t have many anime on my list that I can classify as romantic anime series. I mean, I can’t just bring myself to call it one unless it’s really all about the romance. OTL

    1. I don’t tend to watch a lot of pure romance as I find I get a bit bored. Kimi no todoke is probably the only straigtht romance I have ever really loved.

      1. I guess me reading a lot of generic pure romance manga affected my desire to watch pure romance anime. For this past year, I’m mostly into shounen series, so when I watched a pure romance anime two weeks ago, it felt so weird. I was kind of waiting for some action that I know will never come. lol

Kimi ni Todoke is precious. And this reminds me to catch up with the latest chapter of the manga. orz
