30 Day Anime Challenge: Day 1

Day 1 of the 30 Day Anime Challenge. I’m kind of excited and kind of worried at the same time. The issue of course will be my cheating horrendously when I get to questions I don’t want to answer or don’t have an answer for but pretty much I’m going to make myself actually answer even if I give multiple answers.

Now, I’m leaving these posts for while I’m away so I am going to have answered all of the questions prior to this post actually coming out. That said, this has turned out to be more challenging than expected. I post everyday anyway and I thought this would just be a nice way to have topics for while I was not watching current anime but it turns out that when someone else picks the topic it is harder to write the post.

But onto Day 1 of the challenge. Now the easy answer for an anime I want to watch would be everything. I want to at least try every anime and I know that isn’t possible. Of course I’d have the same answer for books, movies, TV shows, any kind of story. I want to at least try it even if I don’t get very far just for the sake of saying I did try and for uncovering some of those hidden gems that I might otherwise never know about. But I’m not cheating this early in the challenge.

Really, my answer at the moment would probably be Scum’s Wish or The King’s Avatar given neither have come out where I can watch them yet. Still, my watch list was crazy long at the start of this year so I actually tossed the list and started over just listing anime that were recommended to me this year and the list is already crazy long again. The thing is, I seldom get to anime on the watch list because there’s always something new coming out or something I just kind of stumble upon and end up watching. So the list really does just keep getting longer and longer.

So, my answer to this would change on any given day, but I’d love to know what anime you want to watch.

  1. I’m looking forward to your answers for this challenge. Kudos on getting them all in advance.

I want to watch those shows too, especially Scum’s Wish.

  2. Hou, be ready for some weird feelings arising in you when watching Scum’s Wish (or at least that’s what I got when I was watching it) and for a Chinese Smugger and More Beater Kirito, with McDonald for Quan Zhi Gao Shou / The King’s Avatar (which it seems will have a second season).

Also, what’s with this incredible and brilliant idea? Who created this 30 days challenge? It’s a perfect way to fake my presence on the blog. Truly wonderful. I should use it as a back up perhaps…

By the way, my (and probably most of ours) Plan to Watch list reach towards the infinite…

    1. There’s plenty of variations on the challenge around if you search. I thought it would be a nice way to make some posts while I was away and not necessarily watching new anime. That said, I wasn’t expecting it to be so tough to answer all the questions.

  3. Kudos on the taking the challenge! I look forward to reading your responses to the questions posed. I have also been intrigued by King’s Avatar since so many people have lauded it as a solid series with some interesting action. Being an action junkie, anything that has good action scenes is just a tad bit alluring.

  4. Ah finally I can read your answers to this simple but challenging series, I wish you all the best. Well, at least I was positive you won’t have to post 2-4 posts in a day to make it in time like I did (Still don’t know if it was against the rules or not).
Coming to your answer in this question, if you are able to binge watch Scum’s wish in one go then it shouldn’t be any problem, but if you try to watch it slowly like me……. Boy, you’re in for a real pain.

  5. Goodluck with the challenge 😊 I have given it a few thoughts to do this one myself, but I really can’t find the time to write 30 posts for 30 days. So, big respect for this, especially considering your already big schedule and great posts you have each day.
I have currently the same problem with Scum’s wish: heard a lot about it, but can’t watch it. Hopefully it will be available soon 😊

    1. I actually ended up reading the manga of Scum’s Wish because I just wanted to follow the story and it was available on Crunchyroll. It wasn’t bad but manga is not my favourite way to take in a story so I would still prefer to watch the anime at some point.

      1. I agree. I am currently on,y reading manga that haven’t been turned into anime. Am highly enjoying the manga for Battle Angel Alita (besides a movie a long time ago) that one has no anime as far as I know. But you are quite right, I also prefer Anime to Manga 😊

    1. As I said, this ended up being way harder than I thought. I started 40 days before the first post was due to come out and I only just finished because some of these were really hard to answer. Still, I did finish the challenge and now that I’m heading off the posts are all scheduled to come out (assuming I didn’t stuff up the scheduling).

  6. Ooh you decide to tackle the challenge! ! Can’t wait to see your pick
From the two you want to watch I would be more tempted to watch “King Avatar” since it’s seems to be legally available on YouTube. On my on pick “Natsume Yuujinchou” seems interesting, I already added it to my never-ending plan to watch list.

    1. You know I’m going to tell you that you have to give Natsume a go (only because I’m totally in love with the show). Natsume doesn’t work for everyone with some people finding it too slow or don’t click with the main character, but it is still worth trying because if the main character works for you the story is fantastic.

  7. Wow a 30 day challenge. If I tried one of these I would fall behind by like day 3. lol So props for giving this a try.

Thinking about this question for awhile, I think the anime I would wanna watch is One Punch Man. That one is on Netflix now and I have heard good things about it. 🙂

    1. One Punch Man is okay. Actually I really enjoyed it once and there’s some really great characters and moments in the series.
Unfortunately because it really is one joke stretched about as far as it can be, I was kind of done by the end of season 1 and on an attempted rewatch I realised there just wasn’t enough else going on for me to watch it again. Still not sure about whether I’ll watch a second season.
If you give it a go I hope you enjoy it.
