In Case You Missed It

An exciting week has passed as we say goodbye to Winter and hello to the Spring anime season. However, before saying goodbye, it was time to release the results of the reader’s polls for best and worst of the season as well as my own picks. If you missed these posts, be sure to check them out, and then there are some other great posts below that I came across during the week for you to read.

days14

Lita Kino has a look at seasonal anime and on choosing what to watch. She also shares a video that was really kind of interesting to watch. For seasonal reviewers it was an interesting read/watch.

Anime Fandom Life had their first thoughts on Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi and why so far it is ‘nice’. It is a short post, as to be expected of an initial impressions post, but if you are still sampling shows for the season, this might be a post to check out and then maybe an anime worth giving a shot to, or you might decide to avoid.

GrimmGirl gets philosophical on us looking at Full Metal Alchemist and what makes us human. It is a short but interesting look at the creation of the homunculi and how things may have been different as well as some of the underlying themes of the show. Great read.

Mel has a round up of the seasonal anime she watched during Winter (or dropped). It is a nice wrap up post of the season for those still contemplating what anime they should go back and catch up on.

For another season round up, try Remain in Memories who was taken to a place further than the universe for the season. They cover the shows they watched, their thoughts on it, and their favourite episode from each show. Not too much detail, but enough to give you a reasonable impression of most of the titles.

Still on the previous season (or year), Otaku Lounge has the Artemis Anime Awards. Some great choices in some interesting categories with solid explanations behind the choices. Well worth checking out this awards post.

Remy Fool takes a look at characters with tragic back stories and the purpose behind these. Particularly in light of the new Magical Girl Site anime it is a fairly relevant discussion so if you missed the post be sure to check it out and join the conversation in the comments.

Pick of the Week

Lethargic Ramblings has done it again with another excellent post, this one In Defense of Light Novel Adaptations. A nice opinion piece with evidence to support views and inviting conversation in the comments, this is a post well worth checking out for anyone in the ani-blogging community.

My Stuff

Other than the best and worst of winter, this week I reviewed Junji Ito Collection and A.I.C.O as well as the No Game, No Life light novel. Inquiring minds looked at scheduling and keeping up with a daily post routine so if you are interested be sure to check it out and remember you can answer the survey and leave me a question if you would like it answered some time in the future. So far I’ve answered every question I’ve been given, however with only one question a week being answered, some of these are scheduled for some time in the future.

I also started a collaboration with Kapodaco to cover My Hero Academia and the first post is up on his site here.  All my episode reviews for the new season are available on my season overview post and I’ll be trying to cover as many first episodes as  I can over the next week before finalising my watch list.

Lastly, my feature article this week looked at strong female characters and apparently this is a topic that got a lot of people talking because some of the comments have been fantastic. If you missed it be sure to check it out and join in the conversation.

And that was my week, in case you missed it.

Thanks for reading.
