2017 – A Review of the Blog

First of all, Happy New Year to everyone (though for some people I am late and others this is early). While 2017 in the real world had its fair share of ups and downs for me it was a great year as a blogger. This post is just a quick look at the stats from last year. I did do the screen captures a day early so am missing data from the last day of the year.

One thing I was very happy with was I managed to stick to my post schedule which means most days saw three posts go out with some days having an extra post (or two) squeezed in. I’ll admit, it is fairly easy for me to get most of these posts out given my episode reviews are pretty short but I was definitely struggling some weeks when my work schedule got a little out of control and I was falling behind with viewing. The other struggle I am going to face in 2018 is the list of previously viewed anime that I haven’t written reviews for is shrinking (it is still quite long but I’m going to have to rewatch a lot of stuff left on the list to write reviews). Depending on how work goes next year I may need to drop from two series reviews a week to one or else I am going to run my list down. We’ll see how that goes.

Posting December 2017

My follower count also continued to grow. What I find interesting about this is that for all the new followers, a large number of them will click the follow button and then I’ll never see or hear from them again. Still, 2017 has introduced me to some great bloggers. Some are new to blogging this year and some are just new to me and I’m really glad that I’ve had the chance to meet these people. I’m also glad for the people who have been following for awhile and have continued to support and engage with my blog.

Followers December 2017

Most of the year has been pretty stable in terms of number of views. I had a bit of a spike in April and May in the lead up to and then the anniversary. However, it seems the end of the year has gone well and hopefully I can continue to grow in 2018.

Views December 2017

Lastly, how has the blog done overall?

Well, my best ever views are still from the 1st anniversary (May 1) but I’m closing in on 2000 posts so that’s probably my next milestone, though my 200th anime series review will be out on Wednesday with the Noragami Aragoto.

Stats December 2017

However, numbers are numbers. What really keeps this blog going is how much fun it is and how great the community are. Hopefully you will all continue on this anime journey with me through 2018.

The next couple of days will be a little bit light with posts but I’ll have the best and worst of the season results outย  and will be starting the poll for best anime of the year. So once again, I hope everyone will have a great New Year.

Thanks for reading.

    1. Thanks and Happy New Year to you.
It is very odd when you see you get three new followers but they haven’t liked or commented on anything and then you go check out their blog and it either doesn’t exist or is on something totally random.

  4. I sometimes can’t say things enough: you are an awe inspiring blogger. These stats are simply put nothing short of amazing ๐Ÿ˜€ Can’t wait to see what will be coming up this year (erm for me it’s next year, Ugh timezones ). Happy new year to you as well, and I hope you are feeling better ๐Ÿ˜Š

    1. I know, timezones are really painful when it comes to these sorts of events. Even in Australia I watched the fireworks for one state an hour before the official New Year in my own state and I could have stayed up another couple of hours and watched the other states but decided I was done. It kind of takes the special feeling away from the whole midnight thing when you realise if you miss one you can just celebrate at another time.
Happy New Year to you as well and thanks, I’m kind of bouncing back from whatever bug hit me the other day.

      1. Ahh, glad to hear you are bouncing back again ๐Ÿ˜Š Haha, yeah it was fun checking in at WordPress from time to time and seeing happy new year posts appearing. It’s crazy at times to think there are so many timezones. But the clock just struck midnight here 10 minutes ago as well, so it really is 2018 now here as well ๐Ÿ˜€

  5. Holy crap, that’s a lot of posts. I’m impressed.

I have no idea how long it’d take me to get past my next milestones (200, 250, 300, etc.). Congrats on your success and *almost* reaching a huge achievement!

    And Happy New Year.

    1. I didn’t realise how close I was to 2000 posts until I started putting this post together. Then I wondered how I managed that in the time I’ve been running the blog but I guess it is because of the nature of my posts where the majority of them are brief reactions to episodes. Still, I’m really happy I’ve managed to consistently produce content even during some of my less than great weeks in 2017.

    1. Happy New Year.
While the stats are great for giving me a general idea of what is happening with the blog (and graphs are always kind of pretty to look at) for me it is the conversations I have on the blog that are more important and the community of people I’ve met. Fortunately, the community is amazing and I look forward to sharing more discussions and moments in 2018 with everyone.

  6. I always like raving about your blogโ€™s success to everyone in the community. You work so hard to post as frequently as you do, and the posts never seem to dip in quality. Still, Iโ€™m wishing you all the best in success and happiness for 2018! Happy New Year Karandi~!

    1. Happy New Year as well.
I will admit, the next couple of days I’ve taken it pretty easy. Nothing streaming and I haven’t tried to fill my schedule so I’m going to have a few days with only one post going out (kind of a mini-holiday really). I thought about catching up on some shows I hadn’t watched while streaming but I think my brain just wanted a small break and New Year seemed like a good time for it to recharge for the next season.
