Eromanga Sensei Episode 1

Overview:

Izumi writes novels and takes care of his shut in sister (as well as apparently attending school though that seems like a minor point at the moment). His sister turns out to be the illustrator for his novels which he uncovers while watching a live stream.

Review:

Eromanga1

Okay, this one should not be appealing to me at all. So far the characters are pretty stock standard (with the younger sister even insulting her brother by calling him a light novel protagonist) and the plot is pretty basic. That said, as generic as a lot of this is, it was kind of charming in a strange way. I want to know what happened to their parents, why she was brought into the family, how they work together now that they know each other’s pen names, etc. So for a first episode it got me interested enough to continue. Whether I last a season will really depend on whether the charm wears thin.

Eromanga Sensei is available on AnimeLab.

  1. I thought Eromanga Sensei was oddly emotionally rewarding for a silly harem show! They address the feelings of all the characters by the end of the series and it leaves off on a really fun note.

  2. I think this is probably one of the anime I’ll finish this season. It could be because I also enjoyed OreImo. Correct me if I’m wrong but weren’t both series written by the same person? A lot of people probably won’t like this anime but I really am glad it exists.

    1. It’s true, Oreimo and Eromanga-sensei were written by the same author so we could expect some similar tropes to be pulled off in this anime series.

At least, the little sister isn’t that much of an annoyance like Kirino. She’s much more of a gentle character than her.

I’ll be finishing this anime, no doubt. I quite enjoyed Oreimo, although some people have questioned my tastes a lot about this.

        1. I really have a great love for imouto characters since usually they do the best support roles. Didn’t really work out with Kirino.

I’m hoping to post something about Oreimo, as well. Looking forward to yours!
