In Case You Missed It

And the week has finally come to a close and I’m very thankful for that. It has been busy. I’m expecting some internet interruptions over the next couple of weeks so if I suddenly disappear for a day that’s why (most of my posts should still go out as scheduled). Below is the round up of posts that caught my eye this week. Admittedly, I’ve been pretty slack about saving links this week (as I said, busy). As always, if you’ve got a great post or know of one that deserves a shout out, feel free to add a link in the comments below.

Shameless self-promotion: As you all know I started a patreon site for my blog and am looking for patrons to support the expansion of 100 Word Anime. Thanks to my patrons who already support this site. End shameless self-promotion.

Wave Motion Canon takes on Scum’s Wish episode 11 and they do take it on. After so many positive reviews from so many people early in the season, a lot of viewers seem to have hit a tipping point in the last couple of weeks. I really wish I’d been able to watch this one as the conversation around where it is going has been quite entertaining to watch play out.

Lethargic Ramblings takes a look at why Yuri on Ice is not a romance. It’s an opinion shared by quite a few people who’ve seen the show and it is regularly shouted down by Victuri fans, though it is certainly a valid way to view the show. I love the ongoing discussions around Yuri on Ice and the different ways people have taken it.

While not anime related, Cain S Latrani takes a look at Marvel’s Iron Fist. I’m still on the fence about whether to give this a shot so I’ve been enjoying reading the various views around the show.

A final episode review from Kevin Pennyfeather on ACCA. Spoilers abound but you would expect that from a review of a final episode, and he does a great job of bringing everything together in this review.

And on the note of final episode reviews, I have to share Seasonal Prattle’s review of the final episode of Hand Shakers. Prattle nicely explains everything I hated about this episode but does it so much better than I did (I was in too much of a foul mood to be particularly articulate in my review). Again, its a review of a final episode so spoilers, but as I wouldn’t recommend this to my worst enemy you may as well enjoy a fun review of it.

Playing With Thoughts asks why game developers don’t try harder with stories. It’s a question that is raised regularly as people discuss the merits, or lack of them, in regards to the stories of some of the big title games. Worth a look.

Psychime has a really interesting post that looks at who the bad guy of Madoka Magica actually is. Given I recently looked at this anime series from the point of view of why it isn’t really a magical girl series, this post really got me thinking again about the anime and all the ways it manages to distinguish itself from shows that have a similar feel but somehow miss the point. Anyway, its an interesting post that makes you really think about the characters and what they achieve in the series (and the movies) and is certainly worth a read.

Lastly, a post from D Talks Anime on Natsume Yuujinchou. This post takes a look at the central character, Natsume, and the many relationships he has formed throughout the 5 seasons to date. It’s a well written post that reminded me once again just why I love this anime so much and why I’m excited its getting a 6th season. If you haven’t watched the show, you really should read this post and then go check it out (start at season 1).

And that’s all from me.
